Continue service to rain-hit: Kamal
Kamal Haasan has appealed to his fans to extend all possible help to the rain-affected in the city and across the State
Chennai
Actor Kamal Haasan in a statement said, “I was getting calls continuously updating me about the affected parts of the city and the problems of the people. So, I swung into action and appealed to my fans associations to help the rain-affected persons and the disturbed areas both in the city and districts as much as possible. Besides, I was also coordinating the services extended by the associations.”
Playing down the statement row which ruffled a few feathers in the government, he said, “It was an email written to one of my friends who is in an English media house based in north India.”
He further added in detail, “Unfortunately, only a few improperly translated versions in Tamil alone appeared in the media. My letter carried a few references lamenting the disaster that shook the state and the people. Nowhere, did it talk about the TN government or raised questions regarding the tax money paid.”
“Further, I did not receive any newspapers for the last few days and was not active on Facebook as well,” the award-winning actor added in his statement.
He went on to elaborate on the relief and rescue operations being carried out from all spheres. He articulated, “There are people across all sections of the society involved in our movement.”
“This hour of crisis requires individual sympathy and the spirit to work beyond political affiliations. I request both my close friends and bitter critics to show full involvement in relief work and continue their good work pushing aside all other issues.”
“My fans associations have been carrying out welfare activities for the last 36 years. Since, service to people was the motto of the fans association, I have not joined any political party so far,” Kamal Haasan said.
