Mechanics flooded with service requests
As the floods have receded and Chennai is limping back to normalcy, thousands of two-wheeler owners have been thronging the nearby mechanic shops to get their bikes and scooters repaired

Many complained that the whole electrical system in the two-wheelers is choked as it was either fully or partially immersed in water for over 24 hours. “All bikes in my apartment were under water of 15-ft deep high one full day. Now I have to spend about Rs 1,000 to get a new air filter and replace oil,” rued Arivazhagan, a resident of Jafferkhanpet.
Mechanics are not happy about the situation either. “For the last two days, it’s been very hectic. I expected that vehicles would come for repair post rains, but the number has been more than what I can handle. I couldn’t take a break nor could I say no to them,” says Kumar, a mechanic from Saidapet.
