TN is first choice for working women: Study
According to India Skills Report 2016, Tamil Nadu tops among top 10 states as the preferred state for working among women in India

India Skills Report 2016, an initiative by Wheebox (a global talent assessment company) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry, LinkedIn, PeopleStrong and Association of Indian Universities (AIU), ranks Tamil Nadu at number one among top 10 states as preferred state for working among women workforce in India. According to a media release, Tamil Nadu is followed by Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Kerela, Karnataka, and Punjab, among the 29 states and seven Union Territories (UTs) surveyed.
The results are part of Wheebox Employability Skill Test (WEST) that assessed about 5 lakh candidates spread out to 5000 educational campuses across 29 states and seven UTs.
Employability parameters including numerical and logical ability, communication skills, and domain knowledge, etc., were assessed. Tamil Nadu ranks higher in gender wise employable population consisting of 50 per cent males and 67 per cent females. Delhi follows in second place.
Though ISR 2016 has registered a drop in candidates looking for internships from 73 per cent in 2015 to 69 per cent, 75 per cent from Tamil Nadu would consider going for internship. The state also tops among top five states where employees prefer salary between INR two lakh, second position for salary range of INR 2-2.6 lakh, and fourth position for salary in excess of INR 2.6 lakh.
In TN, employable workforce constitutes 32 per cent graduates with BE/B.Tech, 25 per cent from polytechnic institutes, 27 per cent MSc, 24% BA, 45 per cent BCA, 17 per cent B.Com, 30 per cent BSc, and 17 per cent BBA degrees, respectively. Under the psychometric parameters of learning agility, candidates from TN has posted a significant improvement from 2015.
In the domain knowledge, B. Tech graduates include the highest percentage of employability and lowest percentage of employable candidates would be from B.A. B. Com, ITI, & Polytechnic sectors.
