Rain to recede: MET Dept

The MET office has said the deep depression that is concentrated over northern Tamil Nadu mainly is now moving towards Andhra Pradesh and the rain would recede gradually. But the next 24 hours are likely to bring more rain to the northern parts of the state, including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Vellore.Â
Ponneri in Thiruvallur district has already had 37 cm of rain over the last 24 hours alone. The southern districts remain largely unaffected. Chennai’s average rainfall is 85 cms, but it has received 91 cm till date.
