CM grants Rs 500 crore for rain relief
The Chief Minister and her entourage of party seniors went on a visit to Assembly constituencies affected by the monsoons. She allocated Rs 500 cr towards immediate disbursal for rain relief.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa went on an inspection to several rain-affected areas across the city on Monday. The CM visited her RK Nagar Constituency and a few other Assembly constituencies as well. She promised citizens that the AIADMK government is working hard to extend all possible assistance to them. Addressing people from her convoy, Jayalalithaa said the abundant monsoons were a good sign for the state, but as Chennai had received three months of rain in just three days, the resultant damage was unavoidable.
“Several precautionary measures has been taken. However, the heavy rains were unprecedented and the resultant damage is inevitable. The entire government machinery has been deputed to resolve rain-related problems at the earliest,” she assured She announced a disbursement of Rs 500 crore toward rain relief activities.
Deviating from the visit schedule shared earlier, the Chief Minister first arrived at the Ilaya Mudali Street and Seniamman Koil Street in Tondiarpet, Ennore High Road, Coronation Nagar and EH Road in Korukkupet in RK Nagar constituency, Ezhil Nagar and Muthamizh Nagar in Kodungayur and Retteri in Kolathur constituency.
Several party seniors accompanied the Chief Minister. These included Chief Secretary Sheela Balakrishnan and TN Advisor K Gnanadesikan, Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani, Handlooms and Textiles Minister S Gokula Indira, Social Welfare Minister B Valarmathi,Industries and Transport Minister P Thangamani, Information Minister KT Rajendira Balaji, Forests Minister MSM Anandan, District Secretary Vetrivel, Information Secretary Rajaram, Information Director Kumaragurubaran, Chennai District Collector Sundaravalli, and Chennai Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kapur.
