Many among the cadre, who felt the response was rather soft, are venting their anger at the high command for confining it to just an editorial in Murasoli, that too days after the actor made the remark. It is not uncommon to find the cadre fuming at the prominent leaders for keeping calm. They also drew a comparison between this muted response and the sharp retort by even a few alliance party leaders. Even the editorial in Murasoli had limited itself to merely glorifying the party and strictly refrained from talking about the actor. Some party men took to the social media to opine that it would have been an altogether different story if DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi were alive when Rajinikanth had made the remark about Murasoli, which the late leader used to fondly describe as his eldest child. DMK insiders confided to the media that they did not want to whip up a fresh controversy surrounding the issue and provide fodder to the DMK baiters who were already projecting the party as anti-Hindu. Ironically, the same Rajini had participated in the 75th anniversary of Murasoli, but prudently avoided talking about during the Thuglak event.
