But when Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman commented sarcastically that he would move to Kailasa if denied citizenship under the amended Act, the absconding godman was quick to indirectly reject him ‘citizenship’, maintaining that his “country has no place for separatists”.

When Seeman was asked whether his citizenship was at stake after the recent amendment, he replied that if there was any problem, he would immediately seek asylum in Kailasa. The comment, clearly sarcastic, was accompanied by a loud laughter by Seeman himself; and the joke was understandably shared widely on social media. What, however, was unexpected was the epic reply from Nithyananda himself through social media.

The controversial guru, who is on the run after Gujarat police came looking for him, did not reject the citizenship for Seeman outright. Instead, he laid several conditions for him to avail of citizenship. “Kailasa is not an open mutt to accept separatists. If Seeman quits politics, lights the lamps in Tiruvannamalai and worships Goddess Meenakshi, he will be given citizenship,” tweeted Nithyananda.

It was unusual of Nithyananda to respond so promptly, as he seldom replies to comments by politicians. Also, it came at a time when he is absconding after facing cases and allegations. It is another matter that after the Kailasa website, ostensibly run by those close to Nithyananda, claimed that it would come on an island near Ecuador, the South American nation had issued a formal statement that his request for asylum was rejected.
