When people look at my schedule – auto driver during the week and a social activist-volunteer during weekends— they ask me if it has to do with my name. I say it is about the way I was raised. I was born and raised in a middle-class family. My father was a huge fan of visionary leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Kamaraj, and named me after him.I dabbled in business of all kinds after my graduation. I ran a travels company and wanted to venture in leather business.
After suffering heavy losses, my life veered towards auto driving. I have been doing it for the last 20 years. It has helped a me earn money and give a good life to my wife, mother and my two children, who are studying. I have been donating blood for a while now; with over 50 donations so far.
I volunteer whenever there is an emergency. I was an active part of India Against Corruption. Now, I am part of several other movements like Nallor Vattam and Arappor Iyakkam. I am also a registered organ donor. It gives me a lot of happiness to contribute to the society and my surroundings in ways that I could.People ask me how I manage both roles. I say, I spend the weekday for myself and my family, while I work for others during the weekend.
