The title Soppanasundari plays a major role in the story: Charles
CHENNAI: Director Venkat Prabhu on Monday, unveiled the first look of Aishwarya Rajesh’s upcoming film that has been titled Soppanasundari. “Soppanasundari is a myth. None of us has ever seen her.
We all wonder if it is a real character or one of the goddesses or just a fictional person like the Karagattakaaran comedy. But the title of Soppanasundari is apt for the storyline and in fact, it plays a major role in taking the story forward,” director SG Charles told DT Next.
Produced by Huebox Studios, the movie also stars Deepa Shankar, Karunakaran, Mime Gopi and Redin Kingsley among others in important roles. “All these characters are author-backed and each of them will play a crucial part in the film’s runtime. When I narrated the story to Aishwarya Rajesh, she was kicked about the way her role was written and so was Deepa Shankar,” he added.
Soppanasundari is a dark humour and according to Charles the film will strike the right chord among the audience across centers. “We have had dark humour films before but they haven’t resonated well with B and C centers. Only A center audience gets the gist of comedy in such genres. Soppanasundari will be a laugh riot for mass audience as well,” he said.
The poster carried the Thirukkural couplet ,Natuvindri Nanporul Veqkin Kutipondrik Kutramum Aange Tharum which translates to, ‘If a man departing from equity covet the property (of others), at that very time will his family be destroyed and guilt be incurred. “The story revolves around this kural that we have carried in the poster. We will be announcing the other promotional plans soon,” concluded Charles.
