Directed by Vijay Sri G and produced under his banner G Media Film Production, the film will have Nikil playing a cop named Raghavan. “Kamal sir had played a cop named Raghavan in Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu and this purely a coincidence. Having worked for Kamal sir for years, I see this as a blessing,” Nikil told DT Next.

He clarified that he plays a powerful, lengthy role in Powder. “I am the protagonist but the story is the hero. I met Vijay Sri one day and he said, there is a powerful character in the film. While I thought I will be making an announcement about it to the media on who the actor is, he surprised me by saying that I will be playing the role. Thankfully, for the last one year, I was into fitness and that came in handy for the character of Raghavan NM (Nikil Murukan). Moreover, the role is an extension of my real-life persona. He is a cool character, who goes around cracking jokes. This isn’t my acting debut. Vivekh sir tapped the acting potential in me in the 90s and gave me an acting offer. If not for him, I would still have been a camera-shy person. I also played an uncredited role in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Sivaji,” he added.

Talking about the experience of being a PR for his own film, a first-of-its-kind, he said, “I have started getting more acting offers now. I will juggle between PR and acting in the future.” The makers are aiming to release Powder in January.
