“When we started off, we just wanted to tell people a story through the eyes of Varsha, played by Maria Crystal Melo about how an Asian girl struggles to open up to her father on the topic. This is a natural process that a woman undergoes and I have no idea why it is still a taboo. That is what we tried to convey through the film,” Asis begins.

She also opens up that she and her sister Armin never made this with an intention of winning awards. “We are overwhelmed with the love and response for the film. It has won the Excellence in Filmmaking award at the International Filmmaker Festival of New York.

The film also won the prestigious REMI Award at the 53rd WorldFest — Houston International Film Festival. Armin Sethi, the writer of Bloody Mess heaps praises on Asis and says, “Working with Asis is fantastic because we know each other’s’ energies. We are also different on habits and creative head space. While she has an abundance of ideas, I have the organisational skills to set those ideas down in writing. She is nocturnal and I’m an early bird — which seems counterproductive but it really works when each of us are moms.”
