Fostering stray pup Bella was fulfilling, says Regina

Regina Cassandra, one of the most sought-after actors in the south, terms lockdown as ‘pseudoretirement’ life. She has been spending time at her house, getting to know her neighbours better than before, and watching some of the best movies on digital platforms.

“Fostering Bella is one of the most beautiful things that happened to me this lockdown. She is a stray pup who came to me after being spayed. She is such a cute and friendly puppy wagging her tail and willingly running to people, who want to pet her,” she begins.

Due to her erratic schedules, the actress says that she never had the chance to keep a pet. “They need a lot of care, time, and love. Though I wanted one, I couldn’t because of my work commitments. Bella gave me that fulfillment when I fostered her. However, she had a few complications the second day she came to me and the first thing I did is ‘not to google’ the cause behind it. She had haematuria and I consulted a vet, who helped me on how to go about it. Later, we found out that Bella’s platelet count is low. Since then I have been feeding her natural foods like beetroot, radish, liver and mutton bones. I ensured that I shouldn’t be feeding her anything artificial because she will be back with her friends on the street soon and she needs to adapt. She is getting back on track and is healing. People, who

foster pets must understand them well.” Regina opens up.

Terming her lockdown ‘fun’, the actress has been spending some quality time with people in her apartment. “Bella and I go for a walk around my apartment. Apart from that, I have been spending time with my neighbour’s kids who are six and eight years younger to me and were my juniors in school as well. Within my apartment, we cook for each other, have dinner nights, movie nights, and poker nights. These are things I would have loved to do when I retire. I am glad that I am able to do this when I’m at my prime,” says the Evaru actress. Regina will be on toes again once the industry resumes. “I will have to shoot for Chakra, Soorpanagai — Tamil/Telugu bilingual. I also have a Hindi web series for which I will begin shooting,” she concludes.
