“This is exactly what I was telling everyone in 2012. I always said that there will be a day where music is not only about movies and independent music will be accepted by people. Think Music India too had faith in this and backed us. From now on, independent music will keep growing with various talent coming to the fore,” he says.

Talking about Naa Oru Alien, Adhi says that he started the project in March. “We were actually working on Hip Hop Tamizha 2 for 2020 for the last two years. We almost finished the project in March but due to lockdown, a few pending work put the project on halt. Meantime, we came up with Naa Oru Alien — an album that would promote positivity during such times. It talks about humanity and how a small virus that is million times smaller than us has put us in our places. We need to save humans first to save humanity isn’t it?” asks the actor-musician. He also faced backlashes for the video in the comment section saying that Hip Hop Tamizha is raising flag against Tamil culture after becoming popular.

“I really don’t react to fake accounts and bots who just want to post their opinion. Being a Tamilian is my first identity. Had they seen the entire album, they would have realised, what I am trying to convey. If I am against Tamil culture, why would I do a documentary titled Tamizhi. Hatred doesn’t help and we need to evolve, that is what my song Inayam is all about. Naa Oru Alien talks about this, if you show hatred which none of us don’t deserve, I don’t mind alienating myself,” he says.

On the workfront, Adhi says he has a film with Sathya Jyothi Films. “We will begin the film post lockdown. I also have a Telugu directorial coming up. Apart from that, I am due to get my PhD this year. But coronavirus had other plans. Let’s stay positive and safe,” he remarks.
