My next Salmon will be a pan-Indian film: Vijay Yesudas

“The director of the film Shalil Kallur is also one of the producers of the film. He had a certain vision when we first met for a narration last November. Salmon is a 3D film that will have artistes from across the country. It has a Punjabi actress named Jonita Doda playing the female lead and a Kannada TV actor named Dhruvanth in an important role. There is another Marathi actress Tanvi Kishore playing another character. It is a pan-Indian project,” he tells DT Next.

Vijay says that the film is a thriller with other special elements in place. “The story is set in the backdrop of Dubai. Apart from being a thriller, it will also have horror as one of its elements. So far, we have completed 80 per cent of the film in Kochi on the sets that will resemble Dubai. Once we complete the shoot post lockdown, it will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and Punjabi. The director is working on possibilities of releasing it in Hindi as well,” he adds.

Vijay says that more than Salmon releasing across India, he feels his previous film Padaiveeran was a bigger responsibility and a gamble. “Though the film didn’t have a good theatrical run due to strikes, the audience and critics liked it. I am sure they will like Salmon better as it will keep them on the edge of their seats,” he concludes.
