In this collaborative work, Kamal Haasan gives anecdotes on the costume and how he has linked the character and the style.

“Whatever style statement Kamal sir has created from Sigappu Rojakkal to Bigg Boss, people have admired his choice of outfits and style. Being his stylist now, I took the liberty and asked him if I can decode his outfits from Tamil films and document it. He immediately agreed to it and I started documenting his styles. It is a collaborative work -- I select an iconic outfit from one of his films and share it with him. Then, Kamal sir shares the details behind that particular outfit and I create a sketch accordingly,” says Amritha Ram.

The celebrity stylist develops sketches and illustrations that work with the mood and character of the film. “It’s an interesting exercise and what excites me the most is that he remembers the making of each outfit — like the designer, tailor, etc. Kamal sir also shares interesting anecdotes about the outfit, the character, and how he links both. I am not selecting the films in chronological order, it is a random selection,” she adds. Amritha points out Kamal is equally involved in the process and he inspires her to strive for perfection in small detail. “Once, after sketching sir’s look in Rajaparvai with a backdrop of musical notation, I sent the image to him. He saw the image and said, ‘I wish it were the actual musical notations of a song from the film’. I was wondering how to get the actual notes. Immediately, he called someone and got the original notes. Later, I corrected the image and used the actual musical notations of the song,” Amritha recalls.
