Harish kalyan takes a pay cut

K’Town lit up with admiration for Vijay Antony earlier this week after his announcement that he would reduce his salary by Rs 1 crore for each of his next three films, in an effort to ease the hardship faced by film producers owing to the pandemic.Following this gesture is Harish Kalyan. Speaking to DT Next, the young actor said, “I will do it when I sign up for my next film.I feel it will be of great help to producers during such crisis.” The move comes at a period when the industry is facing a loss of over Rs 500 crore. Harish also lauded Vijay Antony’s decision on Twitter and wrote, “Hats off to Vijay Antony sir for reducing 25% of his salary considering the difficulties faced by our Tamil film producers.Huge thing to do. Will follow pursuit.” 

Sharing details about projects he has on hand, Harish said, “I am working in Pelli Choopulu’s remake in Tamil which is nearing completion.” This Telugu romantic-comedy film starring Vijay Deverakonda,Ritu Varma and directed by Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam went on to win critical acclaim. The Tamil version will have Harish acting alongside Priya Bhavani Shankar and will be helmed by Karthik Sundar.

Harish added, “I am also working in a film directed by Sasi. We were supposed to start the production in April but the lockdown forced us to cancel the shoot.” 

The actor, who was last seen in Dharala Prabhu concluded by saying, “I am keeping myself occupied by following a customised routine, doing one thing or the other. I haven’t signed up for any other movie as of now. I hope that we all come out of this pandemic soon and that the film industry gets back on track.”
