The popular actor-director of 80s Ramarajan, who was once called the box-office emperor of Tamil cinema said that he would be donning the director’s hat this year. There were also reports that he would be directing Vijay Sethupathi in one of his scripts and has narrated a one-liner to him. Sources close to Sethu said that Ramarajan had narrated a script but there is no confirmation yet. When contacted, Ramarajan said, “Yes. It is true that I will direct a film this year. However, it is too early to talk about the cast and crew. I finished penning the script even before the lockdown began,” he said. He said that the film will be a rural-based subject. “It is a very interesting story that will be relevant to the audience. I have a few more scripts as well that have been completed and I can’t wait to get back to cinema with direction,” he added. Ramarajan began his career as a director before making his debut as a hero in 1986.
