Working in Godman helped me learn Tamil: Tanya Desai

I play a character that will be in contrast across episodes in the series and that got me excited.” Tanya adds that she had to transform to play the role as it has different shades to it. “The transformation I had to go through in terms of makeover and performance will elevate the storyline as well. Also, my role wouldn’t touch upon sensitive and controversial issues. It has more to do with audacity and the independent nature of the character that will resonate with the viewers instantly.”

The web series directed by Babu Yogeswaran of Daas fame has Daniel Balaji and Sonia Agarwal in important roles. “I didn’t get to share screen space with Sonia Agarwal much. However, I have a lot of combination scenes with Daniel Balaji. Firstly, I’m new to Tamil. He along with the director, explained to me what the lines mean. It helped me to go about performing my character with more comfort and ease. I can now understand Tamil and I have also started learning the language because I feel like home in Tamil,” Tanya explains. “People in the industry are professional when it comes to shooting and organising things related to it. I don’t think Bollywood and other movie industries up North are streamlined like Kollywood,” she quickly adds.

On her upcoming projects, Tanya says that she is awaiting the release of Night and Fog. “I have signed a film in Tamil and an official announcement will be made soon,” she concludes.
