The lead cast of Oh My Kadavule Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh and Vani Bhojan visited the DT Next office after a long day of promotions. The trio was on high energy and was excited to talk about the film. The session began with a photoshoot and Ritika, who did her own hair said, “Until today I never knew I could style my hair on my own. It has come out really well, hasn’t it?” she asks. Ashok Selvan, who was also sporting a long hair thanks Ritika for reminding him to comb his hair as Vani Bhojan posed for our lensman.

Before settling down for the interview, the team went through the pages of our newspaper and discussed the day’s breaking stories. Ashok was the first to talk about the film. “It was one of the most memorable, fun-filled experiences. I am also one of the producers of the film but I wasn’t under pressure because there was a lot of positive vibes on the sets and it felt like we all belonged to the same tribe,” said Ashok. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, Oh My Kadavule, hitting the screens on Friday, is Ritika’s first film in Tamil in almost three years after Shivalinga. “I always wanted to do a rom-com and a loveable character. I wanted to play a role, which is close to real-life persona,” Ritika opened up.

Vani Bhojan though is making her movie debut with this film, the actress is already a popular name in Tamil Nadu through her television soaps. “No one in my family watches TV serials. So, when Ashwath and I saw Vani’s photos, we decided that she was the one who would fit the bill for Meera’s character perfectly. However, I realised that she has a fan army of her own when my house maid started jumping for joy when she heard that Vani is on board for the film,” Ashok opened up. “Television put me in my comfort zone. After Deiva Magal, I was debating if I should go back to doing serials or take a calculated risk by signing films. I listened to a few scripts and they weren’t convincing enough for me. However, when I listened to the script of Oh My Kadavule I couldn’t say ‘no’ to it,” Vani told us. The lead cast in common said that their characters would resonate with the audience. “The trailer and the teaser would give you a feeling that the movie deals with the story of a love triangle. But there’s more to it. The film apart from being a laugh riot, will create an impact among the audience. You will feel a lump in your throat when you watch certain scenes,” added Ashok. The team concluded that though the film is a Valentine’s Day release, the movie has a message for couples and left the venue after acknowledging their fans with selfies.
