Superstar Rajinikanth began shooting for his 168th film with Siruthai Siva in December. The rural entertainer also has Meena, Kushbhu, Prakash Raj, Soori and Sathish in pivotal roles.

Produced by Sun Pictures, it was announced that the film would hit the screens on Deepavali this year. The latest we hear is that the film’s release might be advanced and will hit the screens in October and not in November. A source close to the production unit told DT Next, “There is no official word on it yet or an information within the unit. If there is any truth to this, we will know only when the second schedule of the film begins next week. However, a tinseltown source said that Rajini wants to bring the curtains down on his illustrious career before taking the plunge into politics.

“He would do another film after Siruthai Siva’s next which is likely to go on floors in June. That could also be his last film, which will be jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Kalaippuli S Thaanu’s V Creations. There will be an official word on this later this year,” the source added.

Darbar promotion soars sky high
Darbar is the second Indian film to be promoted on aircrafts after Rajinikanth’s Kabali. A private airline has been painted with Darbar theme all over it and will take off to destinations like Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok from Chennai. The images of the pictures have been trending with the hashtag of Darbar flight on social media. Rajinikanth has donned the khaki after 27 years and the film is all set to release on January 9.
