Contrary to speculation that her web series was postponed, Soundarya Rajinikanth Vishagan tells us that it is all set to roll early next year.

Ponniyin Selvan has been a dream project in Tamil for several filmmakers including Mani Ratnam. While Mani’s Ponniyin Selvan, which will be a feature film, was announced last year, filmmaker-producer Soundarya Rajinikanth had made an announcement in June that she will be making a web series on the same. “Ponniyin Selvan - This is the epic. I have to and want to do justice to it and do it right. Taking all efforts to ensure the initial work is done with all clarity. Will surely update all on progress god bless us !!! #WorkingToSeePonniyinSelvanOnTheDigitalScreenSoon,” (sic) she had tweeted. She had also partnered with the OTT platform MXPlayer to produce this web series.
Earlier this week there were rumours that Soundarya has put her web series on hold as it would clash with Mani Ratnam’s film. When we got in touch with Soundarya, she refuted the rumours surrounding the project and told us, “Our web series Ponniyin Selvan is in the development scripting and preproduction stages. I have re-assembled the creative team and we are most likely to begin shooting after our cast is locked in the first quarter of next year,” she said.
Adding further, Soundarya divulged, “As an epic, Ponniyin Selvan requires all the pre-production work perfectly done before the execution stage. We are on track.” This has now put all rumours to rest and we would soon witness Ponniyin Selvan in digital format as well.
