‘Azhiyadha Kolangal 2 is an important film for women’

The film which was supposed to release a few months ago, is all set to hit the screens on November 29. Ask Archana about the delay in release, she says, “Any good film will go through a tough phase. Especially in today’s time, when the entire film industry is going through a crisis, it is definitely not easy to release a film. I am happy that we have solved everything and the film is all set to hit the screens.” AK2 features stars like Revathi, Prakash Raj and Nassar in pivotal roles. Ask her how it all began, she says, “We all belong to Balu Mahendra sir camp. There was a huge vaccum in our life post his demise and we started missing him. That’s when, Bharathi, a freelance journalist and I thought to come up with a good film, a sort of tribute to the legend. We decided to name it after Balu Mahendra’s hit film Azhiyadha Kolangal, which released in 1979.” She adds, “However, it has nothing to do with the original. We chose this title as it suits the script. This film will be an important one for all woman out there.”

On working with her friends, she says, “Nasser and I are classmates. We studied in the same film institute and have known each other for a long time. I have a huge respect for him since our early days and he is always special to me. His character in the film is peculiar and something that people had never witnessed before.” She adds, “Revathi’s character will be the USP of the film. I am always a big fan of hers.” Archana has always been choosy when it comes to script, “I want to do roles that are different from the routine. I want to be part of films that bring out the identity of a woman.”
