‘Soththumoottai is a tribute to all foodies’

Titled Soththumoottai, Dharan tells us that the song is sort of a tribute to all the foodies in the city.

The makers of actor Varun’s upcoming film Puppy recently released a single titled Anji Manikku, which garnered over one million views in a week. The composer of the film, Dharan Kumar, has come up with yet another quirky number, which is crooned by none-other-than RJ Balaji. Titled Soththumoottai, Dharan tells us that the song is sort of a tribute to all the foodies in the city.

He says, “The song begins when the hero of the film realises that his girlfriend is a foodie and decides to impress her by taking her to all popular food outlets in Chennai. It’s an interesting number and I am sure it will be huge hit among people who love food.” On roping in RJ Balaji to croon this song, he says,”I have earlier listened to a couple of songs sung by RJ Balaji during his radio days. I love his voice and felt that he would be apt for this song. Being a folk number with a blend of melody, only professional singers can do justice to it. However, he has done an excellent job and I am pretty sure that he will pursue his career as a singer as well. In fact, many told me that his voice sounds similar to Dhanush and Hip Hop Aadhi.”

Dharan also says that he is planning to rope in another prominent personality in the industry to croon a song in the film. “We will reveal details on it in a couple of weeks.” Directed by Nattu, Yogi Babu and Samyuktha Hegde also play pivotal roles in the film.
