CG elevates this 'not-so-18+' movie - IT - Chapter 2 film review

The major strength of the 'IT' franchise is its affinity with the weird loop of childhood's adventurous imagination.

The major weakness of the second installment is, the kids aren't kids anymore. The kids kinda vulnerability doesn't behoove a grown up, the empathy we had for the naive kids goes missing. This is where 'IT- Chapter 2' takes a beating.

The '27 years cycle' backstory makes the plot for the sequel very much viable but how does Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) find his friends who've totally forgotten him just like that from a small town Derry? Odd for even a fantasy adventure film.

CG makes this movie score a lot of brownie points. This also allowed the makers to explore instant-scare options in every interesting way possible.

'IT- Chapter 2' is an 18-plus film, but maintains its RL Stine way of 10-minus fear. The duration too is too outstretched yet fails to sustain its grip on the audience.

In an almost 3 hour movie all the actors get their fair share of performance, they too look restricted by the screenplay's limitations.

'IT- Chapter 2' scares only in bits thanks to timely help of the background score, but the clown's diabolical schemes are mostly laughed at. The screenplay is too imaginative for an oversimplified finale face-off.

Bill (James McAvoy) who is a novelist and screenwriter has a funny segment in this film, he is constantly plugged-off by the readers who complain that the ending wasn't good enough (coincidence?).

The movie in a nutshell is an enjoyable fun ride, if only you forget the horror part (but for what else did we come?).
