Agni Natchathiram would be an apt title for this film, says Udhaya
A few days ago, there were reports that actor Vidharth and Udhaya are coming together for a film, which will be directed by debutant Sharan, who earlier assisted Mohan Raja and Vishnuvardhan. The project has now been titled after Mani Ratnam’s hit film, Agni Natchathiram (1988), which featured Karthik and Prabhu in the lead roles.

Talking to DT Next, actor Udhaya says, “When the director narrated the script, I strongly felt that Agni Natchathiram would be an apt title for the project. A few days later, I approached Ishari K Ganesh to acquire the rights for the title. Though many filmmakers had earlier requested him for the title, he agreed to give me the rights without second thought.”
Udhaya also tells us that he is quite confident about the film and has lost more than 8 kg for his role. “Vidharth and I have equal screen space and both of our characters have a lot of scope to perform. Though it has been titled Agni Natchathiram, the film has nothing to do with Mani Ratnam’s cult classic. It’s a crime thriller, which will be something new for the audience. I can’t reveal more details about it as it is too early.” He also adds that major portions of the film will be shot in Chennai, Vellore, Yelagiri and Coimbatore.
“The shoot of the film will begin by the end of September and the pre-production work is going on in brisk pace,” he concludes.
