Goundamani files defamation case against Sixer makers
The veteran comedian’s legal notice states that he is upset with the way the makers have portrayed him in the film
Chennai
Comedian Goundamani’s roles and dialogues have made him a household name across the state. One such role is Cook Kandasamy in Prabhu Ganesan’s Chinna Thambi. In the film, Goundamani suffers from night blindness. Vaibhav’s Sixer that is all set to hit the screens on Friday, was said to be inspired by the role played by the comedian. However, now the film faces a legal hurdle as the comedian feels that his image has been tarnished in Sixer.
According to the story, Vaibhav plays Goundamani’s grandson and has the same medical condition of his grandfather. What upset the comedian was the dialogue uttered by Vaibhav in the trailer. In the legal statement, the actor’s lawyer Sasikumar said, “The movie is causing serious disrepute to our client’s fair name and reputation and hence, in the name of justice, it would be just and equitable for you to immediately delete the said scene from the movie and also tender an open public apology for having misused our client’s photo and dialogue in the movie Sixer.” The statement also said that the makers shouldn’t have used Goundamani’s picture without his permission.
The movie written and directed by debutante Chachi, stars Vaibhav Reddy and Pallak Lalwani, alongside Sathish and Radha Ravi.
