‘This film will pave way for a new genre called zom-com’
The cast and crew of Zombie dropped by the office of DT Next.
Chennai
The director of the film Bhuvan Nullan along with Yashika Aannnand, Sudhakar, Bijili Ramesh and Black Sheep Anbu provided us with their timing comedies in the course of the interview.
As they settle down, Bhuvan says, “I am happy that I had such a team to work with for Zombie. It is because these people are the best in Tamil Nadu when it comes to comedy. Yogi Babu plays the lead and will be seen throughout the film. Sudhakar, Gopi and Anbu are characters that are pivotal to the story graph. They have their own style of comedy that has worked well for Zombie.”
Bhuvan says that Zombie wouldn’t get stereotyped among other horror or horror comedies that have released before in Tamil cinema. “The film will have commercial elements that will strike a chord with the audience. I wouldn’t call this a horror film. It is zom-com that is packed with adventure, fantasy, comedy and horror,” he adds. Meanwhile, Sudhakar, the YouTube sensation couldn’t resist smiling and opens up on the brink of laughter. “Zombie has a lot of situational comedy that was running in my mind as we talk. Prior to Zombie, Gopi and I received quite a few offers but weren’t convincing enough to take them up,” he tells us. Yashika, who has been a part of horror comedies and adult comedies seconds Sudhakar and says, “I agreed to this script because this will not stereotype me as an actress who will only be a part of horror films. In fact, I started getting quite a lot of scripts like that. Director Bhuvan, had a different vision and this is the first script after Bigg Boss and I immediately liked it. I play a doctor in the film.”
Sudhakar says, “I am reminded of the shoot yet again and we had a great time together. We used to joke around and pull each other’s legs.” However, shooting with internet sensation Bijili Ramesh was the most delightful thing laughs Bhuvan . “He was our stressbuster on the sets. We shot with him in different camera angles and also made him perform stunts. We should get the best out of Bijili before he goes into his zone,” says Bhuvan as the entire team had a good laugh about it.
This will be Black Sheep Anbu’s next feature film after Meesaya Murukku and Kolamaavu Kokila. “After Meesaya Muruku, KoKo had a different graph. Zombie again will elevate my career to another level. Zombie has a blend of emotions to our characters and that is what appealed to me the most,” Anbu reveals. Of late, horror comedies or black comedies with young cast in Tamil cinema have focused on double meaning or adult comedies in their films. “Zombie won’t have such comedies. It will cater from kids to adults,” clarifies the director and leaves for a photoshoot session outside the office.
