Loved the way my character Angela exited the show: Lela Loren

Actress Lela Loren of Hangover 3 fame, who plays the character of Angela Valdes in Power Season 6 said that she doesn’t carry her character to home with her after the wrap. “There are some scenes where you feel really exhausted or depleted the next day because they are emotional, but I don’t necessarily feel like I carry it with me.

I think the ritual of leaving the character in your dressing room. I know it sounds strange but there’s a big piece of taking off Angela’s makeup and Angela’s clothes,” she said. Though Lela is out of the season, she said that she liked the way her character exited from the show. “I actually loved the way Angela went out because it’s sort of, for as hard and manipulative as she is, the thing that really rules Angela ultimately is her heart and that, you know, that sort of romantic gesture pushing the manual and taking a bullet in the chest as kind of as Victorian as it gets. I think regardless of even whether someone lives or dies regardless there’s reverberations of that love,” she added.

On a concluding note, Lela said that she learns a lot from characters she plays. “Apart from learning the craft as an actor, I learn that I have a right to be in this business. I think for a long time I sort of felt like a guest. And, just really starting to trust my own endurance and my own.  You know one of the biggest wonderful gifts this has taught is so many times as an actor you would only have a little work and then months and months of downtime when you did work you couldn’t let go of whatever imperfect mistake that you made,” she concluded.

Power season 6 goes live in Sony Liv on August 26.
