Talking about her character in the film, she said, “It is an author-backed role and contributes to the film’s story graph. When Jananathan approached me for Laabam, I told him that I don’t even need a narration. I blindly trust him for the way he has churned out content for his previous films. He has given me confidence to such level that I have been pitching in with my inputs on the sets.” Dhanshika says Laabam revolves around the livelihood of farmers since pre-independence era.
The actress says that audience acceptance of women-centric films of late has been encouraging. “Such film have increased in recent times and have gone to become successful ventures at the box-office. When an artiste is a part of a socially-responsible film, they do not have to worry about the characters’ prominence. Laabam will be one such movie,” she adds. Laabam is jointly produced by Vijay Sethupathi Productions and 7CS Entertainment. While Ramji operates the camera, D Imman will compose tunes for the film.
