The actor-producer’s second directorial to be produced by Sri Thenandal Films, has been dropped earlier this week.
Chennai
Dhanush had made his directorial debut with Pa Paandi in 2017 and announced that he would be directing his second film bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films, earlier this year. He roped in a stellar cast of Nagarjuna, Aditi Rao Hydari, SJ Suryah, Sarath Kumar and Srikanth in the lead roles. The latest is that the makers of this film have informed Dhanush that they cannot go ahead and produce the film due to financial constraints.
A source close to the movie unit told DT Next, “The makers asked Dhanush if his production house Wunderbar films could take up the film. However, the film’s budget is so huge that even Dhanush couldn’t fund it. The film might be permanently shelved.” The film was supposed to be made on a budget of Rs 100 crore. However, Thenandal incurred a huge loss because of Vijay’s Mersal despite the film being profitable for its distributors.
Dhanush too has several projects up his sleeve and will take off for London to shoot for his gangster flick with Karthik Subbaraj early next month. He is currently shooting for the final schedule of Asuran helmed by Vetrimaaran.
The actor also has Pataas directed byDurai Senthilkumar of Kodi fame.
