It’s been more than eight years since actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan announced that he is working on a project titled Thalaivan Irukiran, which will be released in both Tamil and Hindi. However, due to various reasons, the project got delayed and the actor began working on his next.


A week ago, the actor surprised his fans with an announcement that he will be reviving the magnum opus and AR Rahman will be composing the music for the film. Rahman also posted a picture of himself with Kamal and wrote that he was excited to collaborate with him again. Now, we hear from reliable sources that Kamal Haasan will be playing dual role in the film and one of the characters will have negative shade.


A source tells DT Next, “A few years ago, Kamal Haasan approached Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan to play the antagonist in Thalaivan Irukiran. However, since the project was delayed, the actor couldn’t be a part of it. Now, Kamal Haasan himself has decided to play the villain as well. The film might go on floors in a couple of months and makers are planning to shoot the film in six countries. An official announcement will be made regarding the same.” Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Thalaivan Irukiran is said to be a big budget film that touches upon economics, the underworld, and politics. Kamal Haasan has also begun working on Indian 2 along with Siddharth and Kajal Aggarwal.
