Goundamani approached for Santhanam’s film

Now, we hear from reliable sources that director Kannan of Sattai fame has approached Goundamani to play a pivotal role in one of his upcoming films with actor Santhanam.

Earlier, there was speculation that veteran comedian Goundamani will be making a comeback to the industry with the sequel of the blockbuster film, Karakattakaran, which released in 1989. Now, we hear from reliable sources that director Kannan of Sattai fame has approached Goundamani to play a pivotal role in one of his upcoming films with actor Santhanam.

Touted to be a rural entertainer, the film is set to go on floors in the second week of August. When we contacted the director, to confirm the development, he said, “It’s true that I recently met Goundamani sir and discussed the possibilities of working with him. I desperately wanted him to play Santhanam’s father in my upcoming film as I felt that no other actor would fit that character. Though he liked the script, he informed me that it was tough for him to be a part of the project due to other commitments.” He added, “Meanwhile, I am also working on a film with Atharvaa, which will go on floors on July 15.” Interestingly, a source close to the veteran comedian told us that Goundamani has signed two projects as the lead and he is waiting to make an official announcement regarding the same in the coming weeks.
