‘A film’s BGM has the potential to convey the story’
Composer Ron Ethan Yohaan’s background music from the trailer of Game Over has been the talking point of movie buffs of late. Talking about his experience on composing for the film, Ron told DT Next, “It’s fine if the film has no songs to it.

I believe that the background music of any film has the potential to convey the story to the audience. If I watch a film as an audience, I would be exhausted to see songs in unnecessary places in a film. So, when I compose music for a film, I ensure that it is musically high. The music has to elevate the storyline of the film.” However, he added that he would compose music for commercial films too. “It is the script’s requirement. I have no inhibitions in composing for a masala entertainer too. A music director, just like a filmmaker should be open to all genres and explore. That is what I am looking forward to do as well,” he said. Both his upcoming films, Naragasooran and Game Over do not have songs in it. Talking about working with promising talent like Karthick Naren and Ashwin Saravanan, he said, “They are unique in their own ways of storytelling and it has been an interesting experience working with them,” concluded Ron.
