Vicky Kaushal replaces Akshay in Veeram remake
A year ago, there were reports emerging on social media that producer Sajid Nadiadwala has bagged the remake rights of Ajith’s hit Tamil film, Veeram (2014), and Akshay Kumar is in talks to play the lead role. The Hindi remake of the film was tentatively titled Land of Lungi, and the pre-production works were going on a brisk pace.

The latest update is that Akshay Kumar has decided to opt out of the project due to date issues and the makers have finalised a young actor for the project. Vicky Kaushal, who won appreciations for his performance in Uri: The Surgical Strike, has been roped in to reprise Ajith’s role in the film.
A source in the know of things says, “Akshay and Sajid are good friends and they have been discussing the project for a year now. However, since Akki got busy with Lawrence’s Kanchana remake and other two Hindi projects, the actor told Sajid that it is tough for him to give dates.”
The source also added that only then Sajid met Vicky Kaushal and finalised him for the project. “Vicky had earlier watched Veeram and expressed his interest to be a part of the remake. That’s how he came on board.” The film will be directed by Farhad Samji.
