At the time when Tamil cinema is putting all efforts to end piracy, here comes a big blow for the makers of Jai’s recently-released flick, Neeya 2. The entire film was leaked online even before the screening of the film’s first show.

Produced by Sridhar Arunachalam, the film has some huge star cast like Catherine Tresa, Raai Laxmi, Varalaxmi and Bala Saravanan. Despite limited promotions, Neeya 2, created an expectation among the audience as it’s the sequel of 1979 cult-classic horror film, Neeya, that featured Kamal Haasan and Sri Priya in the lead roles. Makers claim that film would have made the cash registers ringing at the box office due of its unique content.

However, Tamilrockers, which has been releasing films illegally for a long time, has leaked this film, too, on the very first day. The worst part is, some of the users have downloaded the film and have live streamed it on their facebook pages.

It has not only upset the makers of the film, but also the industry itself. Talking about it to DT Next, the director of film, L Suresh, said, “I was shocked when one of my friends sent me the link on the very first day. We put all our efforts and worked so hard only to watch our film online? That too, for free?” He adds, “Our producer will file a complaint soon regarding this issue. Neeya 2 is getting a massive response in theatres and I am sure it will have a good run, despite all this.” It is worth noting that Tamilrockers earlier received several warnings from courts including the Madras High Court but nothing seems to be working out since movies are still being leaked.
