‘People should wonder what Shraddha looks like off camera’
Shraddha Srinath was in town recently to promote her upcoming film K13 that is all set to hit the screens on May 3. The actress was spotted posing for pictures as we enter the venue to meet her.

The relaxed actress says, “I am glad that I landed a film like K13 because it feeds my artistic sensibilities. It ticks many boxes for me as an artiste. The director of this film Barath, despite being a debutant, is highly talented. I couldn’t say ‘no’ to the film. She goes on to say that the onus is on the artistes to take the character from the paper to the big screen. “I have always believed that acting is a psychological thing. Once, I listen to the character sketch during the narration, I put myself into the shoes of the character and start visualising myself doing all the things that’s on paper. That sets the tone and improvise it on the sets,” she reveals.
Shraddha plays the role of Malarvizhi, an aspiring writer in K13. The teaser and the trailer gave away that her role has greyshades to it. “The film itself is dark and so will be my role. This is something I haven’t tried before. As an artiste that is what I am supposed to do. Five years down the lane, if I make a collage of all the characters I have played, each one should look different. The audience must wonder what Shraddha looks like in real life,” she smiles. Divulging more about Malarvizhi, she says, “She goes to any extent to feed her creative inspiration. She is obsessed with writing and observes every other people she bumps into in random places.”
With author-backed films like U-Turn, Vikram Vedha and Jersey, the audience have tagged Shraddha as a ‘method actor’. She prefers to play it down. “Its just another form of acting, which is glorified. Recently, when I shot for Jersey, Nani played the role of a father with ease. I asked if he can emote well because he is a father in real life. He said ‘maybe’ or maybe because we are actors. I agree with him because we make people believe that we are the characters we play. Acting is like walking a tight rope,” she says with a sigh .
While Shraddha’s U-Turn has been remade into several languages, the actress herself is a part of Pink’s remake Nerkonda Paarvai, in which she will reprise Taapsee’s role. “Taapsee and I are different actors. Her understanding towards the character and mine are different, which will make our characters and the interpretation of events look different on screen. Moreover, I haven’t watched Pink. Apart from that there is so much anger in me in terms of sexual abuse and my character will be a reflection of my anger,” she concludes.
