“After my marriage in 2001, I decided to put an end to my acting career and focus on my family. I devoted my time to my kids. Now that they are grown-ups I started to consider films,” the actress told DT Next.
But that wasn’t the only reason why Vichitra is eyeing a comeback. “Back in 90s and early 2000s, Tamil cinema was more commercialised. There were hardly any offbeat films that the audience could watch in theatres. However, the industry has seen a sea of change and has opened up to multiple genre of movies and author-backed roles irrespective of the gender. The audience have started looking out for content-oriented films over masala entertainers. That is one of the main reasons for me to consider a comeback to the showbiz,” she explained.
Vichitra has listened to several scripts post her decision. “I am getting familiar with production houses and their filmography. I don’t want to take the second innings for granted. I want to do more meaningful roles and cash in on good opportunities I land. Though I have been listening to scripts, I am taking my time to finalise the right ones,” she concluded.
