Lifeline Udan: Over 37 tns of medical supplies flown across India

The Centre on Wednesday said that under the "Lifeline Udan" initiative, 74 flights have transported 37.63 tonnes of medical supplies across the country till March 31.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, more than 22 tonnes was transported on Tuesday itself.

In a statement, the ministry said: "Lifeline 1: Air India flights: Mumbai to New Delhi to Guwahati to Mumbai carried consignments of Meghalaya , Assam, ICMR, consignment of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Pune."

"Lifeline 2: Air India flights: New Delhi to Hyderabad to Trivandrum to G a to Delhi. It carried consignments of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, ICMR, Goa...

"Lifeline 3: Alliance Air flight: Hyderabad to Bengaluru to Hyderabad carried consignment of Ministry of Textiles."

Besides, an Air India flight also transported vital supplies from Chennai to Port Blair.

Furthermore, an IAF flight from Hindon, outside Delhi, to Port Blair via Sulur was also operated.

As part of India's war against Covid-19, the Ministry has launched  the "Lifeline Udan" flights on March 26 for movement of medical and essential supplies across the country and beyond.

In addition, domestic cargo operators such as Blue Dart are also operating cargo flights on a commercial basis.
