The office opening follows the company’s signing of series H funding of $150 million led by Sequoia Capital, CapitalG and Accel. The company whose roots were established in Chennai, now has twelve global offices including major technical and sales operations in Chennai, Bengaluru, and now Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad office establishes a major product development centre for Freshworks, which immediately plans to scale operations and hire over a hundred engineers for the 15,000 sqft office located in the financial district of Nanakramguda. Freshworks has appointed Anil Kommineni as Site Head of Freshworks Hyderabad. Anil had previously led and scaled engineering teams at Amazon, Microsoft and Teradata. Kiran Darisi, co-founder and distinguished engineer at Freshworks will also be moving to the Hyderabad office. “It’s about the right moment, which in the case of Freshworks is their new office. The city is home to a vibrant community of innovators in SaaS Product Development,” said Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce and IT Departments of the Telangana govt. “Presence of global tech centres, like the one Freshworks unveiled, is a boost for the product development scene in Hyderabad. Freshworks being India’s first B2B SaaS unicorn could amplify the desirability factor in the city for global outlook.”
The opening ceremony of the office was presided by a number of other government and technology luminaries including Ravi Narayan, CEO of T-Hub, a startup incubator in Telangana and Freshworks leadership consisting of Suman Gopalan, Chief HR Officer, STS Prasad, SVP of Engineering, and Anil Kommineni, the newly-appointed Head of Freshworks, Hyderabad.
