When contacted, Arul Sambandam, VP Operations, Feng Tay Enterprise, confirmed this plan to DTNext. “We are looking for 140 acres land to meet the minimum SEZ criteria.

Once we get the allotment, we will formally announce our plans,” he said, noting that the new growth plan entails a fresh investment of Rs 500 crore.

To create the global brand Nike, there are over 28,000 employees engaged in the exercise. When the new expansion materialises, another 20,000 people are expected to benefit from it.

Its Cheyyar SEZ, in Kanchipuram district, is spread over 275 acres while the one at Bargur in Krishnagiri district, is over 146 acres. Apparently, there were some land issues pertaining to Bargur, which have been resolved by the state government. This has accelerated the pace of the expansion programme of the enterprise.
