Desi IT co Sonata buys US firm Sopris Systems for 7 mn dollar
Leading Indian IT services provider Sonata Software has acquired Sopris Systems, the US-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 field services partner, for $7 mn (Rs 50 cr).

“The acquisition of Sopris is aimed at gaining leadership in the global Dynamics 365 business,” said the city-based company in a statement here. The Colorado-based Sopris specialises in enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), mobile field service, enterprise asset management (EAM) and professional service automation. Enterprise consulting, dedicated support and Microsoft Dynamics provide solutions to help Sopris customers make business profitable, deliver higher-quality projects and improve company-wide performance.
“The latest acquisition reflects our intent to invest in Microsoft technologies, especially its Dynamics 365, a platform of choice for companies wanting to digitally transform,” said the statement. On December 6, Sonata bought Australia-based Scalable Data Systems for Rs 28 crore (Australian dollar 5.5 million) to hardsell Microsoft Dynamics 365 product Down Under. “Sopris brings value for us in terms of Dynamics 365 capabilities and resources. It gives services capability in the industry and enable us to be a leader in the 365 partner eco-system with IPs across industries,” said Sonata Chief Executive Srikar Reddy.
Sonata is focused on being a digital transformation partner for customers in retail, distribution, manufacturing and travel industries with its own (Platformation) methodology for Microsoft.
