Suresh Krishna felicitated by N Kumar (R) to mark 20th anniversary celebrations of TPM Club

Chennai

He was delivering a special address at the inaugural session of the 18th TPM National Conference 2018 organised by TPM Club India of the CII here recently. He shared the success stories of TPM (Total Productivity  Management) and  emphasised that TPM can play a major role in the development of the country and should be taken as a ‘dharma’ for social improvement of the society.

As TPM entailed increasing production and reducing cost simultaneously, it fitted befittingly with the Zero Defect, Zero Effect (ZED) programme launched by the Prime Minister, he emphasised.

While the Club had commenced many innovative programmes on VAVE, RCM, Robust Quality Engineering, Human Mistake proofing (Poka-yoke), 3 M and Robust Engineering Quality, it has been recently focussing on untapped industries like construction, building maintenance, transportation, supply-chain and in a variety of other industry segments with clear road maps for implementation and information dissemination amongst the members. Pharma and pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing plants contained huge TPM implementation opportunities, he concluded. In his theme address, N Kumar, Past President, CII & VC, The Sanmar Group, explained the current focus of CII on key enablers such as job creation; skill development; financing growth; promoting next gen manufacturing; sustainability; corporate social responsibility and governance and transparency. Since no country had become a major economy without becoming an industrial power, he emphasised the role of Total Productive Maintenance and operational excellence in the relevance and revival of Indian Manufacturing and the Make in India campaign.

CII, he concluded, had forged alliances with several leading organisations in the world to bring the best practices to India primarily with Japanese Union of Scientists & Engineers (JUSE), JIPM and Japan Management Association Consultants (JMAC), relationships which over the years had strengthened.

In a special ceremony, marking the 20th Anniversary celebrations of the TPM Club India, CII felicitated Krishna, Yogesh Munjal (MD, Munjal Showa) and V Narasimhan (ED, Brakes India) for their exemplary leadership and stewardship of the TPM Club.
