The office is expected to be operational by mid-September. The company has also hired Suman Gopalan as its CHRO (Chief Human Resource Officer) to lead talent strategy. Freshworks is headquartered in San Bruno, California; but a majority of the tech talent works out of Chennai, with offices in London, Berlin and Sydney. The Bengaluru office will act as a second engineering center for the SaaS unicorn, which recently secured a $100 mn funding round led by Accel Partners and Sequoia Capital. Freshworks is one of the fastest SaaS companies to hit the $100 million ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue).

“Chennai has been the center of our operations and we have seen the city transform into the SaaS capital of the country. Bengaluru is the undisputed Silicon Valley of India and hence became the obvious choice for expansion” said Girish Mathrubootham, CEO and Founder of Freshworks. He added, “Suman comes with strong experience in talent management and leadership development. As our CHRO, she will play a key role as we scale our operations”.

Tapping into the Bengaluru talent pool will help the engineering team at Freshworks scale capabilities across the board. The key to their speed of execution is in building reusable platforms across the product range; which is currently at 7 products.

“Speeding up product development and enhancing our AI/ML capabilities will be the prime focus as we continue to invest in nurturing niche engineering proficiencies. Bengaluru will strengthen our Platform Services, Data Science, Data Platforms and Site Reliability Engineering teams. This is us preparing for scale - and handling a larger customer base will require the extra hands onboard. This will also help us go upmarket and win over bigger deals,” said STS Prasad, Senior Vice-President of Engineering at Freshworks.
