Industry experts say TN has been breaking new grounds in evacuation of wind power and is among the greenest grids pan India. On June 14, TN achieved a milestone with its highest recorded generation and absorption of wind power within the state.  Almost 40% of power used in TN on that day

was from the wind and the sun.

Rajeev Karthikeyan, MD, Leap Green Energy said, “As we go about setting up renewable energy plants for captive consumption, it will contribute towards helping manufacturing industry be more competitive in wind rich sates. The 1.2 GW of energy capacity has been fully funded. We are also looking at solar hybrid and storage markets in India.”

The promoters hail from the PSG family, a 100-year-old business house. Its current ownership includes an installed capacity of wind assets worth 760 MW and 400 MW under construction, which brings the total to a 1.2 GW portfolio.

Leap Green has been providing state-wise forecasting for Tamil Nadu and it works closely with Wind Power Associations and Industry bodies in India along with TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd). The plan is to expand to beyond 2,000 MW in the next three years. The State has been supportive of the wind industry for the last two decades, due to which TN has the highest captive and renewable energy penetration in the grid.
