    Aster’s foray into TN to augment specialised healthcare delivery

    Aster DM Healthcare, a healthcare service provider in India and GCC with presence in 9 countries, has entered into an agreement with Subramanya Constructions & Development Company Limited (SCDC), a real estate developer, to construct a hospital here.

    This 500-bedded, multi-specialty hospital, estimated to be built at a cost of Rs 400 cr, is expected to be commissioned in 2020. The hospital would be situated in Kovilambakkam. 

    Aster DM Healthcare, which was recently listed at NSE and BSE already operates 11 hospitals in South India with 4037 installed beds. The new facility is in line with Aster DM’s strategy of strengthening its presence in India. 

    Dr Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare, said, “Looking at the demand supply gap, there is a requirement for more hospitals in India in general, and Chennai in particular. We are present in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra and Maharashtra. We see India as a key market for Aster DM Healthcare in the future. 

    Our presence in Tamil Nadu can help provide advanced tertiary and quaternary medical care at affordable cost.” Dr. Harish Pillai, CEO – Aster Hospitals & Clinics (India) said that, “With our current diversified asset portfolios in Southern and Western India, Tamil Nadu was the only State without our presence. This new flagship hospital due to be commissioned in 2020 will offer art quaternary care services and fulfil the current gap within our network.” 

    Director of SCDC, Nagesh Balasubramanyam said, “We look forward to working with Aster DM Healthcare to build multi-specialty hospital at Kovilambakkam, where we are in possession of the land.” 

    Aster DM Healthcare is present in the Middle East, India and the Philippines with several health facilities including 20 hospitals, 98 clinics and 206 pharmacies.
