HCL unveils ‘second career’ for women
HCL Technologies recently introduced a second career programme called iBelieve, a 1 to 3 month long intensive classroom training programme aimed at helping qualified women reignite their IT careers and refresh their skill-sets.

With the Women’s Second Career programme, HCL hopes to offer women an opportunity to pick up their careers from where they left off, armed with technical and business skills to back on track and meet their professional aspirations.
Globally, millions of employees including women take extended breaks or planned sabbaticals from work for a variety of reasons – marriage, transition to a different country, childbirth, health reasons amongst others.
A study by the World Bank in collaboration with the National Sample Survey Organisation, says 20 million Indian women quit jobs between 200412. Around 65-70% of women who quit never return to work at all. At a time when both Governments and the corporate sector are creating programmes to give impetus to hiring of more women employees especially in STEM fields, one cannot ignore a large talent pool of qualified IT professionals.
Srimathi Shivashankar – EVP, HCL Technologies, says, “This is targeted at women who are serious about making a comeback and willing to invest in themselves.”
