Paytm's QR-based payment solution popular among Tamil Nadu merchants
Paytm announced that its QR-based payment solution was fast emerging as the default payment method for merchants across Tamil Nadu.
Chennai
The company's widely accepted QR was now enabling merchant partners across India to accept unlimited payments directly into their bank accounts at zero per cent fee.
Paytm's strong sales team was currently helping offline merchants across Tamil Nadu understand the convenience of accepting money directly into their bank accounts.
The platform would invest Rs 500 crore this year to conduct merchant training and awareness initiatives to scale operations across India.
The company has registered that restaurants, food outlets and quick service restaurants in Tamil Nadu transact the most using Paytm.
''They can now service their desired client walk-ins who prefer digital payments to cash.
Tea stalls near offices and IT hubs have also contributed massively, while grocery and kirana shops in residential areas have also contributed to the overall volume'', Paytm Regional Head Tom Puthenpurackal Jacob told reporters here.
"Our QR-based payments have become top of mind for users and merchants across Tamil Nadu. It is exciting to see that once our merchants and consumers experience the power of convenient mobile payments, it causes a rapid and permanent shift in their behaviour'', he said.
''We are confident this rate of adoption will increase further as our merchants can now accept payments from Paytm, UPI or Cards at zero cost round the clock, throughout the year at no charges. We are confident the convenience associated with this process will trigger a larger number of merchants in Tamil Nadu towards going cashless'', he added.
