BookMyShow onboards SPI Cinemas on ticketing front
BookMyShow, a leading online movie ticketing aggregator, has now tied up with SPI Cinemas, one of South India’s largest multiplex chains, to enable movie ticket bookings on its platform. With this, BookMyShow has brought on board all major cinema chains onto its platform.

Ashish Hemrajani, Founder & CEO, BookMyShow, says, “The relationship between the two brands is more than 15 years old. From the time Sathyam Cinemas installed its first ticketing system, Bigtree Entertainment Ltd, our parent company, helped set up the ticketing and maintained the F&B systems. We had been in talks with SPI Cinemas to put their inventory on BookMyShow (BMS) for many years. The timing now is right for both companies as SPI wants to aggressively get onto a growth path in the southern market. BMS has already covered the rest of the market quite successfully. In the south, SPI was the last bastion for us and we are committed to strengthen our foothold in the region.”
He adds, “SPI has a very high consumer base with a high ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) and high spend per head. Fresh customers can bring about increased occupancy, and deliver higher revenues through the F&B segment. SPI is a very dominant player in the South and are now expanding to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.” Swaroop Reddy, President, SPI Cinemas said, “As we take SPI to more and more cities, the collaboration with BMS will help reach a wider audience.”
