‘Fast track Vizag-Chennai biz corridor’
Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar has directed officials to take steps to expedite the process of Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial corridor construction and ensure the first phase of works be completed by March 2019. The Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor steering committee meeting, held in the Secretariat last night, was chaired by the Chief Secretary.
He directed the officials to examine the possibility of extending incentives to the contractors, who could complete the works before the stipulated time.
The Chief Secretary said the Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor construction was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 5,200 crore. Tenders were invited for the first phase of works, to be taken up at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore.
Kumar directed the officials to complete the clearance of tenders for the first phase by the end of December 2017 and identify the works, to be taken up in the second phase. All the process should be taken simultaneously, he added.
Since the new capital city Amaravati is witnessing a rapid development and growing like a world class city, development works under Visakhapatnam-Chennai corridor should be taken up in the Capital city area and plans should be formulated in this regard.
