NABARD to aid TN farmers with 500 cr
In order to mitigate agrarian distress, NABARD has proposed to support the state through Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) in rejuvenating system irrigation tanks under Kudimaramathu with annual assistance of Rs 500 crore.

Further, NABARD is working in unison with TN to modernise Agriculture Produce Market Committee, introduce e-trading, establish modernisation and other infrastructure and integrate with National Agricultural Market so that farmers discover the best price for their produce.Â
NABARD is also promoting Farmers’ Producer Organisations (FPO) which are companies owned by the farmer’ producer themselves which help double their income by way of reduction in cost of inputs, aggregation of agricultural sale proceeds, establishing common infrastructures, etc.Â
There are 170 FPOs and about 35 Companies are becoming role model FPOs for doubling the farmers’ income.
